So, after that last blog I posted Ariel and I pulled the greatest prank on Amanda ever. Like really. We crumpled up a BILLION pieces of newspaper and went and got Aaron to unlock her car and then filled her entire front seat with the newspaper. It took her 13 trashbags to clean it out. Oh man. So funny. Look on Ariel's myspace for pictures of it. It was so great. It took forever but it was totally worth it.
Then we were on Spring Break. Which for me, wasn't really Spring Break because I still had to take my sisters to school and my dad to work. So there was no sleeping in for Ashtyn. But I did get to spend a lot of time with Ariel and Amanda which is always wonderful. We drove around a bunch, got lost, heard Ariel trying to pee on the side of the road... some great times. Then we went to see Knowing... which kinda blew my mind. I knew it was going to be biblical, but some things that happened/were said really struck me. I don't want to give away anything for those of you that are still planning on going to see it, but it was basically about the end of the world and the rapture. One thing that really hit me was this line, "Only those who heard the call can go." It was just extremely powerful coming from a movie that wasn't advertised as a "Jesus" movie. Another part that was great was that when Nicholas Cage saw the thing that came to take the "chosen ones" away he dropped to his knees. Anyone else find that super intense? It was just really crazy. A very powerful movie to say the least. Everyone should go see it.
Yesterday Ariel, Megan and I went to San Fran for the day. Megan is giving us a ride to Sac when we fly to San Diego and her and Ariel didn't really know each other so I thought this would be a great way to hang out and have fun. So, we went down there! We were at the pier for awhile and then we went to Coit Tower and then down Lombard Street. I hadn't been to the tower or Lombard Street so it was cool to do those things. Then we headed back home. It was a lot of fun. Traffic, not so much, but the trip in general was cool. There were many memorable quotes including, "I want a clam chowder bowl... here's my debit card!!" And, "You must speak Jenny." Haha. All were great.
Then we got home... well for some reason Ariel and I had all this pent up energy... so I went and picked her up and we rocked out to "Snap Yo Fingers" like a billion times. Then we were hungry to we grabbed some BK Lounge where she got a kids meal that came with Sponge Bob and these really cool stickers. (side note.. I had to go to Rite Aid and get stuff for my sister and then right before that Ariel spilled her Fanta all over both of us so we had to walk through the store with soda on ourselves... kinda embarrassing) Ariel thought it would be a good idea to put these here stickers on our foreheads... so we did just that... then we decided that Sponge Bob was gonna be our mascot.. so we got some tape and taped him to my dashboard... then we got Amanda.. and she had kites... so we were gonna go fly kites with our Rambo bandannas on... well there wasn't any wind so we decided to somehow use the car... so we went to the Boulder Creek neighborhood... Amanda hung out of the window with the kite and so did Ariel but just so she could take pics... so yeah... I was driving and they were hanging out of my windows flying a kite... well I wanted to see the kite so I let Ariel drive which was all fine and dandy until we were trying to find a new neighborhood and in while we were doing that she looked at her phone and we ended up on the wrong side of Old Alturas.. like the wrong lane... like we could have been smashed. So, I made her get out and I drove. The end. (well.. of that story)
Now for Jesus talk.. lately my walk has been going good. Church last weekend was amazing. This girl from Bethel prayed for me and her hand felt like it was on fire on my back and my legs felt like jello... crazy stuff. So since then I've just been praying more and I got a new bible so I've been trying to read it more. It's been good. Here's some pretty cool that I realized lately. God isn't always serious. I think many times he is misconstrued as being this big bad man who only condemns and punishes.. but that's not it at ALL. He is Love. Simple as that. He is loving, he is a father, he is comforting, and a protector. He wants us to enjoy life. So that whole kite thing? He got a kick out of it. He wants us to laugh. He wants us to love and he wants us to live, but while doing all of those things he wants us to praise him and lift him up.
Today is Easter. Please remember what it's really about. Not the Easter Bunny or chocolate, but Jesus. He died for us and he rose again. It's such an amazing story that I often forget about until April comes around. I went to sunrise service and it was great. While I didn't wanna go I'm glad I did. It was a great message. Everyone should go listen to this song. We sing it at church all the time. But it's so great.
True Love by Phil Wickham
Come close listen to the story
About a love more faithful than the morning
The Father gave His only Son just to save us
The earth was shaking in the dark
All creation felt the Fathers Broken Heart
Tears were filling Heaven's Eyes
The day that True Love died, the day that True Love died
When blood and water hit the ground
Walls we couldn't move came crashing down
We were free and made alive
The day that True Love died, The day that True Love died
Search your heart you know you can't deny it
Come on, lose your life just so you can find it
The Father gave His only Son just to save us
The Earth was shaking in the dark
All creation felt The Fathers broken heart
Tears were filling Heaven's Eyes
The day that True Love died, the day that True Love died
When blood and water hit the ground
Walls we couldn't move came crashing down
We were free and made alive
The day that True Love died, The day that True Love died
Now, Jesus is alive
Jesus is alive
Jesus is alive
Jesus is alive
Jesus is alive
Oh, He is alive
He rose again
When blood and water hit the ground
Walls we couldn't move came crashing down
We were free and made alive
The day that True Love died, The day that True Love died
Come close listen to the story

ha, so about the kite thing...yeah this guy gave his narrative speech on doing basically the same exact thing in red bluff and they got pulled over and the kid that made the kite didn't want to give it up but if they didn't they were going to be ticketed or something of the sort. lol anyways, thought that was pretty funny too :)
God is Love, the definition of love! =)
That song gives chills everytime I hear it. MAkes me wonder about allof the petty things in life that don't mean a darn thing. He is true love, he wants us, he needs us, and above all we need him. It is mind boggling to know there is always that one person who you can ALWAYS count on to never let you down, to never lie, and to never leave. We are all so blessed to call Him our Father. We need to exhault him in everything we do. WE need to live in the image of Christ. I love you Ash. I am glad you had fun in San Fran, I am glad you had fun pranking Amanda, that was a good one, you're amazing and don't forget it.
